Deanna is a second year Master’s student in the Interdisciplinary Health Communication program at UNC Chapel Hill. Deanna previously attended the University of Pittsburgh where she received a B.S. in Biological Sciences. After completing her undergraduate degree, she spent a year serving with AmeriCorps as a Health & Benefits Advocate at a nonprofit health clinic. Her work there focused on increasing access to care through insurance enrollment and program referrals. She also provided case management and patient education services as part of the clinic’s prenatal care team. Deanna is particularly interested in issues surrounding access to care, quality of care, health literacy, and information dissemination, especially in underserved populations.
