IHC affiliated scholars Joan Cates, Autumn Shafer, and others are authors on a recent publication in the Journal of Adolescent Health about the HPV vaccine. They examined HPV vaccine awareness and information sources reported by parents in North Carolina. While 64% of parents recalled hearing about HPV vaccine through drug company advertisements, only 9% recalled hearing through schools, despite state requirements. The journal also highlighted the findings in an accompanying editorial on HPV vaccine in schools.
