Amanda Mezer is a second year student in the Health Policy and Management Department at Gillings School of Global Public Health. She is currently pursuing her Masters of Science in Public Health. She graduated from Wake Forest University in 2013 with a bachelor’s degree in Communications and a minor in Health Policy and Administration. Her research focus is Type 1 diabetes. She is currently a research assistant at UNC working on diabetes research and will be conducting her own research in the upcoming months. Her work focuses on social media thathas the power and the ability to help/servepeople in many different demographics. Her focus is on getting more information to people via social media and to reduce the digital divide while making credible information sources available to all people.
