Courtney is a doctoral student in the Nutrition Department at the Gillings School of Global Public Health, and is pursuing a Certificate in Interdisciplinary Health Communication. Courtney holds dual Master degrees in Nutrition and Public Health from Saint Louis University, and she is a Registered Dietitian. Her research interests center on developing and evaluating healthy lifestyle interventions that minimize the risk of chronic disease and discovering how to connect people and organizations with effective programs and enable them to implement and sustain change in a way that will allow the healthiest choices to become the easiest choices. She also has an interest in enabling and empowering consumers to critically evaluate nutrition headlines so that they can find and use relevant, evidence-based information to inform decisions. Her dissertation will focus on the implementation of a theory-based, social marketing intervention in child care settings currently being tested for efficacy.
