Allison Schmidt is a PhD student in the department of Health Behavior at UNC. Allison is interested in how communication can facilitate environmental-level and policy-level changes to promote health. Prior to entering the PhD program, Allison has had experience reviewing national health policies and regulations, creating materials for public health organizations for a communications firm, and helping to develop an e-health intervention for patients with chronic pain. As her MPH practicum at UNC, Allison interned at NC Prevention Partners, promoting organizational-level policy change to support tobacco-free campuses and the provision of cessation resources to employees and patients at hospitals. She is currently pursuing research about the impact of tobacco policies on tobacco use.
